"If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants" - Isaac Newton.
GPT Wrappers, SQL wrappers, AWS wrappers, React Wrappers. I really don't understand these descriptions. It's like saying a car is just a wrapper around wheels, Facebook is just a wrapper around MySQL, Vercel is just a wrapper around AWS, any SaaS business is just a wrapper around AWS, GCP or Azure. Like what the well do you want me to use? I'm not going to rebuild everything from scratch from C man. This might make for a good tweet and I'm sure very educational. However if you are trying to build new and useful things on top of these new technologies just use the cutting edge and use what millions of other engineers has worked on. and make it useful. That's about it, customers, developers, or anybody using a product for that matter don't really care what technologies your product is made of. They care about how well it solves their problems.
I understand that a lot of apps people made could be done with ChatGPT or Claude and some prompting and I believe this is where most of the frustration is coming from. A lot of apps are completely useless and nobody uses them and they are built on top of these LLMs with some simple prompting, but pareto principle? hello?? Most people fail to consider that a lot of human work is "useless". Most academic papers, most works of art, research, analysis nobody gives a shit about. I don't have a problem with this, I think its just a rule of the universe whatever.
What I do care about is the emotional impact this has on builders, creators and people who create new things. Building things is hard already I think builders need as much encouragement as possible. Let's not come up with insults like wrappers, if you are going to critise at least come up with real reasons.
